The Needs of Self-Directed Learners


Learning is increasingly self-directed.  Some analysts have popularised an idea that only 10% of what we learn comes from formal education and training settings. They have proposed that 20% comes from learning on the job or from our peers, and 70% comes from our informal learning experiences.

This topic will assess and evaluate digital learning options to cater for the unique learning needs of each  learner

We will look at online environments that meet the needs of individual learners.

What is heutagogy and why does it matter?

How does a self-directed learner get recognition for informal and workplace learning?
